How to interpret the indicator lights on the meter

With the advancement of society and the development of science and technology, the most intuitive experience of the change of electric meters is the transition from heavy metal black boxes that rely on gears to precise liquid crystal metering devices that operate on electronic signals.

During the period, the meter reader who walked the streets and recorded the electricity was also replaced by a computer.

 

But what remains the same is the blinking indicator light on the meter. What are these lights? What does it do?

As shown in the picture above, this is a single-phase prepaid electric energy meter with WIFI communication and built-in magnetic latching relay, which can realize payment before use, remote meter reading, remote recharge, remote balance/total power, over-power trip, balance consumption

Do not automatically trip and other functions.

 

There are 2 indicator lights on the meter,

 

A. Pulse output indication

 

B. Status indicator (steady green light: sufficient balance & normal network;

 

The green light is on for 0.5 seconds and off for 0.5 seconds: the balance is low;

 

Green light on for 1 second and off for 2 seconds: sufficient balance, abnormal network)

 

The status indicator is easy to understand. What is the pulse output indicator for feedback of the running status of the meter?

 

As shown in this table, 1600imp/kWh is marked below the pulse output indicator, which means that when the indicator flashes 1600 times, it means that one kilowatt-hour is used.

The pulse output of each watch is not the same, there are 800imp/kWh, 1000imp/kWh, 1600imp/kWh, 3200imp/kWh, 10000imp/kWh and so on.

As shown above, this is a three-phase electric meter.

There are 4 indicator lights on it. What are the functions?

 

Indicator D is the pulse indicator of the electric meter. The pulse output of this electric meter is 800imp/kWh, and every 800 flashes indicates that one kilowatt-hour is used.

 

The other A, B, and C are split-phase power indicators. The power consumption of each split-phase A\B\C can be judged by the flashing speed of the indicators; the faster the flashing, the greater the power of this phase.

It can be judged whether the three-phase power consumption is balanced by observing the blinking of the split-phase indicator, and the three-phase balance can be achieved by adjusting the load between each phase.
