Knowledge of CT Meters

A CT meter, which measures current through a current transformer (CT), is a key device in industrial and commercial power consumption scenarios. It uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to proportionally convert large currents in the main circuit into small current signals, which are then measured by the meter. This solves problems such as meter overload and accuracy degradation caused by direct measurement of large currents.

Compared with ordinary meters, CT meters have significant advantages. They achieve current isolation through transformers, avoiding direct contact with large currents and improving safety and reliability. Meanwhile, they can be adapted to transformers of different specifications, easily handling large current measurements ranging from hundreds to thousands of amperes. They are widely used in factories, commercial complexes and other places. In addition, CT meters are easy to install without interrupting the main circuit—simply passing the conductor through the transformer completes the installation, greatly reducing construction difficulty and costs. With high precision, safety and adaptability, CT meters have become the preferred equipment for industrial power measurement and monitoring.
