About Electricity Meter Certification
There are many types of certifications in the electricity meter industry. There are different certifications for exporting to different countries and regions. Only those certifications can be used for sales. It is conceivable that the more certifications passed, the stronger the strength of the electricity meter manufacturer. The certifications commonly used in the electricity meter industry include STS, MID, KEM, etc.
- STS certificate
The STS Association was established in 1997 and was initiated by South Africa’s Eskom Power Company. It has been promoting STS’s prepaid standards globally, especially in African countries;
In 2007, the STS standard, the IEC62055 series of standards, became the international standard for prepayment electricity meter followed by most countries. The STS certificate is equivalent to the ‘passport’ for entering the markets of African countries.
In addition to many African countries following the STS standard, this standard is also widely used in the Southeast Asian market.
- MID certificate
MID (measuring instruments directive), the instruction number is 2014/32/EU.
The scope covers 95% of the measuring instruments sold in the EU market, including water meter, electricity meter, heat meter, etc.,
The regulations for the supervision and management of measuring instruments, which were enforced in October 2006, clarified the new standards for the legal system of measuring instruments.
- RoHS certificate
The Rohs directive regulates the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products, which is conducive to human health and environmental optimization.
RoHS testing items include lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB和PBDE.
- KEMA certificate
KEMA—KEUR is a quality mark for (electrical) safety. In order to implement the European Community's Decree on Low Voltage Electrical Products (February 19, 1973), the Dutch Electrical Appliance Law requires all electrical products sold on the Dutch market to meet its prescribed safety standards.
KEMA issues certification marks in accordance with these standards. If a product obtains the KEMA-KEUR mark and meets these requirements, it means that it can automatically meet the requirements of European laws.
- UL certificate
UL is the abbreviation of Underwriter Laboratories Inc. in English.
UL Safety Testing Institute is the most authoritative in the United States, and it is also the largest private organization engaged in safety testing and appraisal in the world.
It is mainly engaged in product safety certification and operating safety certification business. Its ultimate goal is to obtain products with a fairly safe standard for the market and contribute to the guarantee of personal health and property safety.
- CE certificate
CE ((CONFORMITE EUROPEENNE)) certification, a safety conformity mark rather than a quality conformity mark. It is the "main requirement" that forms the core of the European Directive.
The "CE" mark is a safety certification mark and is regarded as a passport for manufacturers to open and enter the European market.
The "CE" mark in the EU market is a compulsory certification mark. Whether it is a product produced by an EU enterprise or a product produced in another country, if you want to circulate freely on the EU market, you must affix the "CE" mark to indicate the product. It meets the basic requirements of the EU Directive "New Methods of Technical Coordination and Standardization".
This is a mandatory requirement of EU law on products.
