A DC power meter is a measurement tool that measures current, voltage, power, and electricity in a DC circuit. DC power meters are widely used in DC screens, solar power supplies, telecommunications base stations, subways, and other occasions. The DC power meter is capable of displaying measurement results locally as well as connecting with industrial control equipment and computers to create a measurement and control system.


Here are some common facts about DC power meters:

The DC meter has a wide measurement range. The min can be in milliamperes and the max can reach thousands of amps. This mainly depends on the shunt used.

DC power meters have a small internal resistance to reduce the voltage drop across the ammeter during measurements.

The DC meter must be connected in series with the load and cannot be connected in parallel because the internal resistance of the ammeter is very small. This is equivalent to a short connection between the positive and negative poles, causing large currents that can damage both the power supply and the ammeter.

The measured energy consumption of DC meters is relatively high, and the accuracy class is required to be 0.5.

In order to adapt to various application environments, DC power meters are designed with a variety of installation methods, such as embedded mounting, rail mounting, or wall mounting.

The working power supply of the DC meter and measurement power supply will be designed separately. That is, the working power supply generally includes AC/DC 85-265V or DC24V (±10%) or DC48V (±10%), etc. The measurement voltage will exceed 1000 VDC.

In addition to measuring DC consumption, a DC meter has extended functions such as an RS-485 communication interface (Modbus-RTU protocol), relay alarm output, and switching input.

DC has both positive and negative polarities. When installing and using a DC meter, it is important to pay attention to certain matters such as avoiding polarity reversal, selecting the appropriate range, and preventing overloading.

A DC power meter is a measuring instrument that has various functions and features, making it suitable for use in the field of power monitoring and energy management.
