Two types of electric energy meters with different measurement principles
Electric energy meter is a common instrument in life. Although electricity is invisible and intangible, it can be measured through different working principles and different working methods. Electric meters are divided into two categories according to different principles, one is mechanical energy meters, and the other is electronic energy meters.
- Mechanical electric meter
The working principle is that when the meter is connected to the circuit, there is an alternating current in the current coil and the voltage coil, thus generating magnetic flux. When the magnetic flux passes through the aluminum disk, an eddy current is induced, and the magnetic flux interacts with the eddy current to generate a rotating torque to make the aluminum disk rotate.
The aluminum disk receives the braking torque of the permanent magnet, which makes the aluminum disk rotate at a constant speed. When the power is greater, the torque is greater, and the aluminum plate rotates faster and is transmitted to the counter. At this time, the indicator of the counter is the actual electric energy used.
The shortcomings of mechanical electric meters are also obvious, such as poor stability, low accuracy, continuous decline in sensitivity, and almost no anti-tamper effect.
- Electronic meter
The working principle of the electronic watt-hour meter The basic principle of the electronic watt-hour meter is to sample and calculate the power supply voltage and current consumption in real time. It is equivalent to using a voltmeter and ammeter to continuously record voltage, current readings, and phase relationships for 24 hours. According to this series of data, they are finally converted into power consumption in real time. The measurement speed is thousands of times per second or more! These tasks are all done by the internal microprocessor, which is commonly referred to as a microcomputer. Because there is no mechanical transmission mechanism and the power consumption of electronic circuits and microcomputer circuits can be made very low, even in micro-ammeters, it is very power-saving, which is one of the advantages.
Zhejiang Yongtailong's smart meters can be monitored, tested, and communicated, making remote data collection more convenient, efficient, and accurate, and query meter data anytime, anywhere.
The following is a smart STS single-phase electric meter with RS485/RF/LoRa/PLC communication options. It can be measured in STS mode, currency mode and post-paid (traditional) mode.
The meter is connected to the home display (IHD) for users to read and operate. The data will be sent to the master station through the DCU for management. Through the instrument keyboard, IHD keyboard and main station software, users and administrators can charge.
