Key words: STS "Electricity Meter ; Prepaid energy meter; electricity meter
STS (Standard transfer specification) is the only globally recognized open standard for prepayment systems. The association is mainly responsible for the development of technical standards and maintenance of the standard system of STS prepayment energy meter, and promoting the international development of the technology.
The composition of the STS Association includes.
1. Key Management Center (KMC).
Managed by Eskom, the national power company of South Africa, it mainly distributes the keys of each power company's supply group SGC and manufacturer MFR.
2. Supply Group Code (SGC)
Every prepaid system that wants to use STS technology must apply to the STS Association for an SGC (Supply Group Number), which is the power board code, and has an STS Key Management Center to assign it, which is equivalent to the ID card of the power board (power sales company) for key management. Each power bureau has one or more SGCs, and different SGCs correspond to different power sales keys. Some larger power bureaus have different SGCs and corresponding power sales keys in different areas for key security.
3. STS Meter Manufacturer (MFR).
Must join the STS Association and be assigned the manufacturer address by the STS Association, which is placed at the top of the meter serial number, otherwise it cannot access the system.
4. STS Association (STSA).
Responsible for the application and acceptance of membership for manufacturers and individual power companies
5. Black box manufacturer (SMM):
System power sales black box manufacturer, the power sales server is installed with a power sales black box, all encrypted data of power sales are done by it, which is the main component of system security.
Power sales system side key composition
1. DDK-Producer default key
2. VUDK-Electricity sales key
3. Prepaid meter key
4. DITK-The initialization public key of the electricity meter manufacturer, which is mainly used for the production process
5. DDTK-Default key of the power meter factory, the key is generated by the power sales encryption card according to the kmf file provided by KMC
6. DUTK-The power sales key, the power company will replace DDTK with the power sales key of DUTK after installing the energy meter
The STS standard transmission protocol describes a technical framework for the secure specification of information to be transmitted between electricity sales systems and meters, and is now widely used in electricity metering and sales systems, and can be extended to water, gas and other utility meters; STS electricity meters are widely used in African countries.
